Vanina Farber - elea Chair for Social Innovation

Vanina Farber is an economist and political scientist specializing in social innovation, corporate social responsibility and sustainable finance with more than 20 years of consultancy, research and teaching experience, working with academic institutions, multinational corporations and international organizations. She is the holder of the elea Chair for Social Innovation.

In her research, Vanina is interested in studying and fostering the application of innovative, practical, sustainable and inclusive market-oriented approaches that aspire to change the world by eliminating the root causes of social ills. Her research focuses on social entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, impact investing and ESG Integration/sustainable finance. She seeks to understand the social innovation environment through a holistic approach that examines both the supply (entrepreneurs and corporates) and demand side of social innovation (society but also investors).

Driving Innovative Finance for Impact - Steering Committee

Innovative finance is an emerging field with tremendous promise to improve development outcomes in fragile settings and beyond. Ensuring the course’s continuous focus on real-world problem solving is our ambition. The course’s dedicated Steering Committee convenes on a regular basis to source innovations, new case applications, and otherwise relevant emerging practice and research.

Andrej Kirn

Andrej leads efforts to deepen and co-design multistakeholder collaboration between the World Economic Forum and International Organizations to tackle key global challenges for a more sustainable future. He also focuses on bringing together humanitarian and development actors with corporates and investors to design long-term approaches in protracted settings that combine humanitarian impact with financial return.

Juan Coderque Galligo

Juan’s 30-year professional career includes teaching, leading teams in conflict environments in the former Soviet Union, Africa and the Middle East, and innovation in resource mobilization and partnerships for humanitarian impact. He leads ICRC’s Innovative Finance Centre of Expertise and helps drive the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Initiative.

Dr Maximilian Martin

Dr. Maximilian Martin serves as Lombard Odier’s Global Head of Philanthropy and led the ICRC’s “Program for Humanitarian Impact Investment” transaction (humanitarian impact bond) on the side of the co-sponsor Lombard Odier. One of Europe’s impact pioneers, he created Europe’s first university course on social entrepreneurship (2003), Europe’s first philanthropic services & impact investing offering at a bank (UBS, 2004-2009), coined “impact economy” and “corporate impact venturing,” founded Impact Economy (2011), and wrote the UK Cabinet Office Primer “Status of the Social Impact Investing Market” for the first G8 conference on impact investing (2013).
